Objectives
- Explain the mechanism of action of non-insulin medications for diabetes mellitus (DM).
- Compare classes of DM medications and select the most appropriate regimen based on patient characteristics.
- Discuss the newest class of oral medications, SGLT-@ inhibitors, including precautions and differences between medications within class.
- Utilize latest guidelines from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to assess the appropriateness of a medication regimen.
